Our Story
WE EXIST AS A COMMUNITY TO CONNECT FAMILIES AND FRIENDS THROUGH RECIPES, REMEDIES AND FOOD TRADITIONS.
We believe a recipe is more than just food,
it’s the culmination of community, culture, and comfort.
Passing Dish has been the passion project of Catherine Grayson-Roper, a Mid-Westerner who has lived in over six states and traveled extensively. Any trip home or family gathering, is centered around her Father’s signature dishes. Yet, like many old-school cooks his recipes aren’t always exact and rarely in full written form.
Catherine often found herself calling home on holidays to have her father talk her through
family recipes. The idea for Passing Dish was born over a Thanksgiving visit where she video-taped her father as he patiently, demonstrated the making of his homemade yeast rolls – still yet to be perfected.
Catherine is married to a Southerner who also shares an appreciation for good home cooking, especially his grandmother’s Shrimp & Grits. Together they are on an adventure to preserve and share the tastes of home – one recipe, one story, one shared moment at a time.
